sSCAT - Fit-for-purpose models and frameworks for understanding and managing diverse social-ecological area-based conservation systems
First meeting: 22.-25.04.2024
iDiv member:
Ralf Seppelt
Project summary:
This group will develop conceptual and modelling frameworks to support area-based conservation decision making. Most models for designing, managing, and monitoring conservation areas ignore important social-ecological complexities. We propose to quantitatively describe repeating social-ecological patterns (archetypes) in conservation systems globally, apply existing and novel theory to understand their implications for conservation, and share data and insights to test and refine key hypotheses generated by these models and frameworks. The project will contribute general and policy-relevant insights for conservation science.
