2nd yDiv Postdoc Plenary Meeting 2024 - 2024 Best practices in teaching

We warmly invite you to join our 2^nd yDiv Postdoc Plenary Meeting in 2024- this time we will meet in Halle!

The postdoc plenary meeting is an offer within our yDiv postdoc programme and will take place twice a year. You can gain insights into a specific topic (this time Teaching), while also exchanging news and ideas with your fellow postdocs. It is also a great opportunity to network within our iDiv postdoc community.

This second postdoc plenary meeting will be chaired by Rafaella Canessa (Postdoc BioCon) and Gabriella Damasceno (Postdoc sPlot).

All postdocs within our iDiv/ yDiv community are invited to join. If you are travelling from Leipzig or Jena, you will have the possibility to receive travel reimbursement from yDiv.

1. Interactive Workshop: Best Practices in Teaching (45 minutes)
How do we activate and engage students? How do we balance activities in the classroom, and which activities work better? In this workshop, you will gain some basic knowledge on how do humans learn, and how to plan a lesson effectively, based on a methods collection but also from the group’s collective experience.

2. Interactive Workshop: Collective support in the classroom (45 minutes)
The classroom is full of difficult situations, which require our attention and care. But conflict resolution is not a task that we should address alone. The idea of this workshop is to create a safe space for support and conflict resolution and to identify that most of the problems we face as part of our teaching duties are common and normal. We will collectively work on conflict examples, to find solutions and channels of support.
