From the perspective of the safety net
The exhibition "From the perspective of the safety net" shows the results of the collaboration between the four 2023 iDiv resident artists and iDiv scientists from different fields of research - from research into the extinction of fish species in Germany, and invasive plant species, to participatory processes of rewilding landscapes.
In spring 2023, four transdisciplinary artists - Snow Paik, Steph Joyce, Nike Kühn and Julie Hart - were invited to deepen their artistic exploration of biodiversity during a three-month residency at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ).
The exhibition and supporting programme opens on May 25, 2023, and invites visitors to reflect on the ambiguity of environmental change and its impacts. The transdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the works allows visitors to approach ongoing research questions from both artistic and scientific perspectives. The exhibition takes place in the main building of the iDiv on the grounds of the Alte Messe in Leipzig and offers visitors a glimpse into the world of art and biodiversity research.
