New Chief Operating Officer at iDiv

Sabine Matthiä was born in Dresden, studied biology in Jena and Marburg and received her PhD in primatology. She has worked as an event manager, project coordinator, and head of administration. In the past ten years, she has been the administrative coordinator of the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), an excellence cluster of the TU Dresden and like iDiv a DFG research centre.
"We are looking forward to working together with Sabine Matthiä", says Prof. Christian Wirth, Managing Director of iDiv. "With her, we have found a person who has learned from the bottom up how to lead and develop a research centre. She has contributed significantly to the success of the TU Dresden in acquiring an excellence cluster. We are fortunate that she now puts her skills and experience at the disposal of iDiv."
Sabine Matthiä looks ahead to her new task with excitement. "iDiv is an excellent research centre of international reputation", she says. "Within a short period of time it could be established across the borders of eleven institutions and three federal states. The management of such a successful network is a unique challenge that I am very much looking forward to."
The German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig is one of four research centres of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). The main goal of iDiv is to provide the scientific basis for the sustainable management of the Earth´s biodiversity. iDiv is structurally unique, as it operates across the borders of three federal states. The research centre is a central facility of the Leipzig University. It is run together with the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, as well as in cooperation with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ. Additionally, seven non-university research institutions are involved as cooperation partners. iDiv´s Central Management is located at the Biocity in Leipzig.
