Interest and current research
I focus on combining different experimental and analytical sampling methods to investigate metabolomic changes within and among plant species grown in the Jena Experiment. Using Liquid Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometry and bioinformatics “big data” processing methods, I am analysing the metabolite ‘fingerprint’ of herb and grass species grown in different plant communities and biodiversity levels. Determining those biochemical patterns and trait relationships between plant species, species communities and the environment, I intend to build a bridge between the research areas ecology, biochemistry and bioinformatics.
